How to pace the Gold Coast Marathon
The Gold Coast course is one of the flattest certified marathons in the world — barely 25 metres of total elevation change across an out-and-back along the oceanfront.
Run in the cool, often still conditions of an Australian winter, it is a pure personal-best course. With no hills to set a rhythm, even or slightly negative pacing off the clock is the plan.
The one variable is wind direction on the out versus back leg. If you run the outbound half into a headwind, hold effort steady and expect the split to look slow — the tailwind on the return will even it out.
Set a goal finish time above and the calculator builds a split plan for this course, grade-adjusted from its elevation profile. New to pacing? Read the pacing strategy guide.
