How to pace the Valencia Marathon
Valencia is built for speed: about 30 metres of total climb, wide roads, long straights, and sweeping turns. It regularly produces world records and is one of the best courses anywhere for an even or negative split.
The early December date brings cool, usually still conditions, so weather rarely forces a slowdown. The pacing risk is the fast, crowded start — hold the first 5 km a few seconds per kilometre slower than goal while the field spreads out.
Settle onto goal pace by 5 km and hold it through the flat middle. The final kilometre crosses a footbridge over the lake by the City of Arts and Sciences; it is flat, so a controlled race can finish hard.
Set a goal finish time above and the calculator builds a split plan for this course, grade-adjusted from its elevation profile. New to pacing? Read the pacing strategy guide.
