How to pace the Osaka Marathon
Osaka is a fast, mostly flat city course past Osaka Castle and down the Midosuji boulevard, with a few short humps over the river bridges and a couple of out-and-back sections.
The bridge rises are brief and cost little; the out-and-back stretches mean you may run some kilometres into a headwind and others with it, so do not over-read a single slow or fast split.
Run in the cool conditions of late February, Osaka rewards even pacing. Settle onto goal pace early and hold it through the flat second half toward the finish.
Set a goal finish time above and the calculator builds a split plan for this course, grade-adjusted from its elevation profile. New to pacing? Read the pacing strategy guide.
