How to pace the Rotterdam Marathon
Rotterdam is flat and fast, historically one of the quickest marathons in the world, run in cool mid-April weather on wide city roads.
The course crosses the Erasmus Bridge twice — a short, stiff ramp early around 2 km, and again near 38–40 km when the legs are tired. That late crossing is the one place the profile bites; plan to lose a few seconds per kilometre over it.
Everything between the bridges is dead flat. Lock onto goal pace by 5 km, hold it, and save a small effort for the second bridge crossing near the end.
Set a goal finish time above and the calculator builds a split plan for this course, grade-adjusted from its elevation profile. New to pacing? Read the pacing strategy guide.
